This day long workshop is offered twice in 2020: May 17th and repeated on Oct 11th.
Raising your own table poultry, eggs or a few sheep, goats or pigs means you and your family (or customers) eat top quality, nutritious food and you have the chance to experience the pleasure and satisfaction of raising these wonderful small farm animals to the highest standard. The workshop introduces you to the first principles of animal husbandry and provides practical advice on animal welfare: housing, health, nutrition, and animal behaviour.

The day focuses on how to care for, feed and manage small farm animals organically so that they provide you with top quality meat, fibre, or eggs. The workshop is designed to introduce you to basic animal husbandry practices particularly humane handling, animal welfare and feeding practices. The workshop is for those wanting to specialise in producing well fed, healthy and content animals whose welfare and health needs take priority. The course focuses on the animal husbandry practices that will deliver the high quality meat, fibre or eggs in way that best manages the health and welfare of your small farm animals.
What is covered in the course
There are no requirements other than an appreciation of domesticated poultry and a willingness to raise then to a high standard for the absolute best in meat and eggs.
This workshop is offered in Braidwood NSW, and soon to be online where it will be available across Australia.

Bronwyn Richards, is a successful small commercial farmer & market gardener of 14 years experience. Bron's work has a focus on sustainability, soil health, water conservation and organic growing principles. She has a life long interest in the care and welfare of domestic animals . and in her youth worked as a vet nurse. She has worked with Local Land Services, NSW, in the region to provide workshops on Basic Poultry Care and Table Poultry.
Helen Lynch, BA, DipEdStud, MEdAdmin, PostGDOEd, CertIVTAE, is an educator and online and face to face learning designer, having spent 15 years across the TAFE and University sectors designing educational experiences for adults.
All workshops offer a couples discount of $25.
